Oct. 23, 2008 – Is Global Warming contributing to more intense hurricanes? It is a question that is central in the Global Warming debate. Hurricane Omar stopped the V.I. Energy Office, the St. Croix Environmental Association and UVI Marine Advisory Council from shedding some light on that debate on Oct. 17.
However, the movie "Dimming the Sun" has been rescheduled for 7 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 7, at the St. Croix UVI campus in the Great Hall. After the movie, which explores the negative effects of burning fossil fuel, Energy Office staff will be available to answer questions about local energy issues.
The movie is free. For more information, call the VI Energy Office at 773-1082 or St. Croix Environmental Association at 773-1989.

The movie's Web site has the following description:
"The Dimming of the Sun" investigates the discovery that the sunlight reaching Earth has been growing dimmer, which may seem surprising given all the international concern over global warming. At first glance, less sunlight might hardly seem to matter when our planet is stewing in greenhouse gases. But the discovery of global dimming has led several scientists to revise their models of the climate and how fast it's changing. According to one recent and highly controversial model, the worst-case warming scenario could be worse than anyone has predicted. Dimming the Sun unravels this baffling climate conundrum and the implications for Earth's future.
