Nov. 1, 2008 – Leland Malvin Dowe Jr., also known as "Jahno" or "J.D.," of Barren Spot died on Oct. 24, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 21 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Charlene M. Williams; father, Leland M. Dowe Sr.; fiancé, Barika Hakim-Dowe; grandmothers: Beverly Bartholomew and Sheila Smith; grandfather, Jacob Williams Lawrence Dowe Jr.; great-grandmother, Lasalle Grant; brothers: Michael Williams, Sean and Kadeem Joseph; and sisters: Tiesha, Lynette and Amaida Dowe, and Khadijah Joseph. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Hasani and Hasania James, Garvin and Jade Douglas; aunts: Keisha, Nicole and Shekerah Bartholomew, Barbara Williams, Lynette Dowe-Furgie, Valincia Hazelwood, Laralee Dowe, Jeniffer White and Felicia Dowe; uncles: Delano Dowe, Gene Meyers, Lebrune Dowe, Damion Moody and Nathanal Williams; special friends: Troy Fergie, Tasheem Monsanto, Romeo Walter, Kevin Greaves, Shenell Mercer, Clinton James, Onasis Vanterpool, Tamika Roberts, Elvin Chinnery and Luis Roldan; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 7, at Medford A.M.E. Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
The family requests that mourners wear black and red at the funeral.
