Sorority Invites Adolescent Girls to Attend GEMS

0

The St. Thomas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. sponsors the Dr. Jeane L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute, which is a program for girls from 14-18 years old, grades 9-12. GEMS (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) was created to catch the dreams of African-American adolescent girls. It provides the framework to actualize those dreams through the performance of specific tasks that develop a can do attitude. Activities, field trips and projects will be conducted.
The registration and orientation for the program will be held from 9-11 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School Library.
For applications or more information, contact Ayesha K. Williams at 693-1479, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or ask a high school counselor.
