Nov. 26, 2008 – Two medical education seminars are scheduled for early December at the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute as part of the Schneider Regional Medical Center's continuing education series for physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. The seminars will be conducted by several of the nation's leading specialists in pulmonology, cardiology, emergency medicine and nephrology. These are all critical healthcare concerns locally.
The presenters are from the noted Cleveland Clinic, one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the nation. With 16 locations, it is a multispecialty medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. Dr. Mercedes Dullum, cardiac thoracic surgeon; Dr. David Kaufman, pulmonologist; and Dr. Diane Sandy, nephrologist are specialists at the Cleveland Clinic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They will join their local colleagues for educational seminars at 6 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 5, in the Bennie and Martha Benjamin Auditorium, and again at 7:30 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 6. They are open to all medical professionals as well as the general public from throughout the territory. They will be available also by teleconference link. CME/CEU credits will be offered.
In addition to the medical education seminars, a session for the general community will be held from 6-7:30 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 3. Dr. Dullum's topic will be "Heart Healthy" and Dr. Kaufman will discuss asthma management. This event also will take place in the cancer center auditorium. Refreshments will be served at all sessions.
