Transfer Day Celebration Planned at Lawaetz Family Museum

The St. Croix Landmarks Society (SCLS) and the St. Croix Friends of Denmark Society invite the public to the annual Transfer Day Celebration, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, March 31, at the Lawaetz Family Museum in Little La Grange, Frederiksted. The celebration is free to the public.
The festivities will include traditional, celebratory customs, such as: performances of the national anthems of Denmark, the Virgin Islands and the United States; the Københavner March and "Hvor Smiler Fager;" the presentation of the Dannebrog (Danish flag); and cultural dance performances. Honored guests and dignitaries giving special greetings at the ceremony will include: H.E. Ambassador Soren Blak, consul general of Denmark, New York; Governor John P. de Jongh of the U.S.V.I.; and Dr. Donna Christensen, V.I. delegate to the U.S. Congress, Washington, D.C.
Throughout the ceremony, there will be cultural music and dance performances by: St. Patrick's School Steel Band, Central High School Jr. ROTC, Santa Cruz Brass Ensemble, St. Croix Educational Complex Quadrille Dancers, and Pearl B. Larsen School Quelbe Ambassadors.
