Training on Americans with Disabilities Act Scheduled for St. Thomas, St.

April 28, 2009 – Training for individuals responsible for evaluating accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be held on
May 11 on St. Thomas and May 13 on St. Croix. The program is free and
limited to 50 participants.
The program will provide attendees with an overview of the newly revised
ADA/ABA Accessibility Guidelines and its harmonization with model codes as
they relate to accessibility requirements. This full-day training will
include a lecture, multi-media and materials. Anyone charged with determining
if the built environment complies with ADA Accessibility requirements should
attend this event.
* St. Thomas: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, May 11, at TBA
* St. Croix: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, at The Great Hall on
UVI's St. Croix campus
This training is offered by Cornell University's DBTAC – Northeast ADA
Center in partnership with United Spinal Association and the Virgin Islands
University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD).
