May 15, 2009 — Police on St Croix Friday morning arrested a second suspect in the April 8 death of Ray.W. Bryson in Tamarind Estates, Humbug, St. Croix.
Executing search and arrest warrants in an early morning sweep, police arrested 26-year-old Daniel Nicholas, who was charged with murder in the first degree in the death of Bryson.
Nicholas is the second suspect who has been charged with murder in this case. 30-year-old Dwayne K. Friday, also known as “Money,” was arrested within hours of the killing and charged with murder in the first degree. On April 12 detectives also arrested John Crump, 25, of Tamarind Estates, and charged him with misprision of a felony for having information the homicide but refusing to cooperate with police.
On April 8 police had responded to a call of shots being discharged in Estate Humbug, in the vicinity of Tamarind Estates. They were directed to a home by witnesses in the area and found Bryson, who had sustained multiple stab wounds to his chest. Emergency Medical Technicians arriving at the scene did not find any signs of life in the victim. The body was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital.
Daniel Nicholas was born on St. Croix and lives in the JFK housing community. His bail was set at $200,000 by Judge Julio Brady and he was remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
Detectives executed Friday’s search and arrest warrants in JFK and La Grand Princess. Also arrested was 19-year-old Mario Felix of La Grande Princess, who was arrested for possessing crack cocaine. Detectives also confiscated a bullet proof vest from Felix’s residence. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and placed on $10,000 bail. Felix was remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
