Brief: Health Department Offering Free HIV Tests

June 17, 2009 — Take the test and take control, the Health Department urges, as it gears up for free HIV testing on St. Croix and St. Thomas during the week leading up to National HIV Testing Day on June 27. The Department of Health STD/HIV/TB Program has scheduled six separate testing clinics.
"We are partnering with public and private organizations interested in removing the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS," said acting Health Commissioner Julia Sheen in the department's announcement of the clinics. "Our mobile units will be out in the community at times that will be convenient for residents to take advantage of outreach activities."
The testing schedule:
St Croix
— June 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Juan F. Luis Emergency Room;
— June 25, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Seaborne Airlines terminal, Christiansted;
— June 26, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at H2O Restaurant; and
— June 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in John F. Kennedy Housing Project.
St. Thomas
— June 24, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Emergency Room of Schneider Regional Medical Center; and
— June 26, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.at Seaborne Airlines, Charlotte Amalie.
