June 19, 2009 — A St. John visitor drowned off Waterlemon Cay Friday after suffering cardiopulmonary arrest, according to a statement from V.I. police.
Mark Dales, 76, was vacationing with his wife on a private sailboat when he was stricken while swimming. He was pronounced dead by medical staff at the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center.
St. John Rescue, National Park Emergency vessels, Emergency Medical Technicians and police responded to the scene. The official cause of death will be determined following examination by the medical examiner.
