Health and Human Services Respond to Camp Closing Due to H1N1 Virus

0

June 26, 2009 – The Departments of Health and Human Services will host mandatory meetings for licensed childcare providers and summer camp directors to share pertinent information about precautions against the H1NI virus. The first meeting will be held on Monday, June 29, at the UVI Great Hall conference room, St. Croix, and the second will be on Tuesday, June 30, at the Human Services Head Start conference room in Sugar Estate, St.Thomas. Both meetings will begin at 6 p.m.
Medical professionals from DOH will discuss universal precautions against the virus and identify the steps needed to assist a child who may become infected. The recent voluntary closure of a summer camp after a child tested positive for the swine flu prompted Health and Human Services officials to increase awareness about H1N1.
