The Rock Collective Holds Open Mic Night at Brass Cabana

0

The Rock Collective is looking for aspiring or active poets, writers, artists or musicians. If you just like to sit in the back of the room and enjoy some creative expression through poetry, music, or other artwork while others share these talents, or you prefer more of an administrative role and would like to assist in organizing events for others to be expressive, join up.
The Rock Lounge, a "free, open mic experience of poetry, music, visual arts and other creative expression," is continuing its season and finding new ways of encouraging creativity. From 6-8:30 p.m., Friday, July 10, all are invited to participate, listen and see, as is the custom each second Friday of the month. The current home for the Rock Lounge is The Frenchtown Deli, but they close at 5 p.m. during the months of June – July, so the lounge will be located at the Brass Cabana (Sub Base) upstairs of the old Natural Food Deli. Parking is available. There will be food available that night and everyone is encourages to support the house.
On any given evening, there may be poetry, prose, musical selections, drumming, rap, reggae and blues, by youth to seniors, featured musicians and artists. Another month, the evening might be totally different.
Parents bringing children are especially encouraged to come in the earlier hour of the lounge, with more adult freedom of content shared in the latter hour. Also, mini feedback surveys are available for anonymous commentary/suggestions to facilitate improvement and the creation of a logo for the organization.
In addition to actively seeking additional members of the core Rock Collective, the organization is taking suggestions and trying new and creative things including trying new locations and offering a suggested theme of the month, which can be used as an option for inspiring creative expression.
