Julius Jackson takes a breather before getting back up to topple opponent Luis Hodge during Saturday's fights. The fight card was shortened Saturday as technical difficulties held up Boxing In Paradise IV for a couple hours, but the crowd at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center had enough to focus on as Samuel Rogers and the Jackson brothers lit up the ring with victories that kept their so-far-undefeated records intact.

Rogers kicked off the night, going against Adam Ortiz out of Tallahassee, Fla. Ortiz looked more like a sparring partner than a competitor for the two rounds the fight managed to last. During the first round, Rogers mostly pummeled him in the face as Ortiz struggled to keep his hands out. In the second round, Rogers decided to mix it up a little bit, hitting some combos to the midsection before following up with some more hits to the face, causing Ortiz to stagger backwards. The ref jumped in and called the match at 1:45, leaving Rogers to pick up his fourth win by TKO.

The second fight of the evening was a bit shorter, with Hiram Agosto — making his professional debut out of Puerto Rico — literally giving up a little more than a minute into the first round. Booing from the crowd turned to cheers as St. Croix’s Otoniel Ortiz, also making his pro debut, was announced the winner by TKO.

A body blow 1:54 into the first round is what sealed the win for St. Thomas’ John Jackson in the third fight of the night. Jackson looked in control throughout the match, dodging and weaving through his opponent’s attempts to strike. Puerto Rico’s Jonathon Cordero showed his inexperience in the ring, for the most part unable to get past Jackson’s defense.

The fourth fight was a four-round event between Florida’s Carlos Diaz and Javier Fortuna out of the Dominican Republic. Fortuna won by unanimous decision: 39:37, 40:36, 40:36.

The mood in the gym changed slightly as the song "Lady Marmalade" came over the loudspeaker, signaling the fifth fight of the evening between Hanna Gabriel of Costa Rica and Florida’s Yvonne Reis. People in the crowd laughed and whistled when the ladies first started dancing around the ring, but they were soon shouting as Gabriel took Reis down blow by blow in six rounds. The judges’ decision was unanimous, with Gabriel winning 59:55, 60:54 and 60:54.

The last fight before the main event had Julius Jackson facing off against Florida’s Luis Hodge. The fight was pretty even throughout, but it was Julius who ended up winning by unanimous decision, with all three judges giving him a score of 40:36.

In the biggest upset of the night, Atlanta’s Omri Lowther beat Juan Carlos Batista to take the WBA Fedecaribe Lightweight Championship during the main event. While the two appeared to be evenly matched in the first round, exchanging jabs to the body and head, Lowther dominated for the rest of the fight, repeatedly getting Batista to the floor and in between the ropes. By the fourth round, Batista was spitting blood and visibly upset, but his attempt at a comeback in the fifth round was a no-go. Too tired to get up after the seventh round, Batista stayed in his corner and yielded his title to Lowther, who won by TKO.
