Crime Stoppers Needs Your Help

Crime Stoppers is asking the community to help the VIPD solve the following crimes, and reminds everyone that any information, no matter how insignificant, may be just what the police need to solve these cases:

  • St. Croix: On Wednesday, Oct. 21, about 10 p.m., a 55-year-old man was brutally attacked and robbed at gunpoint by three men in the Whites Bay Area. Two attackers were described as slim, and one as heavy-set. All three men were about 21 to 25 years of age. If you heard any unusual noises, saw people in the area, or know anything about this attack, please call immediately.
  • St. John: Police are requesting the community’s assistance in solving several burglaries in the area of Carolina. Items stolen from homes include laptops, PDAs, and TVs. Anyone with any information or observing anyone selling these items, please call.
  • St. Thomas: Police are requesting the community’s help in finding the man who assaulted and robbed an elderly woman at her home in Wintberg on Thursday Oct. 15, 2009 at about 3 pm. The man tied her up, struck her head with a hammer, and took her money before fleeing. Help police find this man.

The community has been quite remarkable in helping to bring closure to many cases similar to these. Please help law enforcement close these cases also.

Crime Stoppers is pleased to report that the community has submitted tips resulting in 64 arrests and the recovery of 37 illegal weapons since January. If you submitted a tip, please check to see if you are entitled to a cash reward, as unclaimed rewards expire six months after the award date.

Community members can submit tips to Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The tips are completely anonymous, and stateside operators are bilingual.
