The Forum Presents Its Biggest Season Yet

On Oct. 30, the showing of the award-winning documentary Pray the Devil Back to Hell will begin the Forum 2009-2010 Season. “This is our most ambitious and varied program” says Neil Prior, chairman of the Forum.
The season will feature the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra together with local mezzo soprano, Melita Etienne. Photographer Damon Winter, who comes from St. Thomas, will share his Pulitzer Prize-wining coverage of the Obama campaign. Zainab Salbi comes to talk about her work. Fifteen years ago Salbi founded Women for Women International. Today her organization has grown to 100,000 sponsors in 10 countries. Cellist Alisa Weilerstein, who is on the verge of becoming a superstar, will perform with pianist Inon Barnatan, who is getting standing ovations on his tour of the United States. Pacifica, a Grammy-winning quartet comes straight from the Casals Festival and the season winds up with Platanos and Collard Greens, a hit romantic comedy about an African-American man and a Latino woman. In May, the Annual Film Festival will continue in May and the dates will be announced at a later time.

November 14, 2009 – The Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra with guest artiste Melita Etienne. Reichhold Center for the Arts. 8 p.m.
December 3, 2009 – Damon Winter – Pulitzer Prize Winning Photographer . Prior-Jollek Hall . 8 p.m.
January 21, 2010 – Zainab Salbi – Founder of Women for Women International,
February 4, 2010 – Alisa Weilerstein, cello; Inon Barnatan, piano. Prior-Jollek Hall. 8 p.m.
March 9, 2010 – Pacifica Quartet from the Casals Festival. Prior-Jollek Hall. 8 p.m.
April 10, 2010 – Platanos and Collard Greens. A romantic comedy. Prior-Jollek Hall. 8 p.m.
