Banco Popular Employees Make a Difference at Boys & Girls Club

Banco Popular employees give arts & crafts demonstration to crowd of Boys & Girls Club student members and the bank’s staffOn Saturday, Oct. 24, employees from Banco Popular visited the Boys & Girls Club at Oswald Harris Court bearing gifts. The 38 employees raised funds among staff members and organized the day of service at the club in recognition of the nationally celebrated “Make A Difference Day.” Approximately 30 young boys and girls attended the event and enjoyed making recycled arts & crafts projects with bank’s employees. The kids were also serenaded by a special musical performance by a local choir arranged by a Banco Popular employee.

The event lasted four hours and Jackie Brown, Boys & Girls Club unit director, thanked the Banco Popular employees for the donation of much-needed gifts, such as a color printer, area rugs, a flat screen television, office supplies, snacks and juices for the children.
“Saturday was another show of great support which demonstrates that people really want to support youth-enrichment programs. What was remarkable is that it was all out of everyone’s pocket – Banco Popular employees donated their own personal time and their own money to make a difference at the Boys & Girls Clubs,” said Julie Landreneau, executive director.
