District Governor for Rotary International District 7020 Errol Charles Alberga Jr. will make his official visit to the six Rotary Clubs of St. Thomas-St. John the week of Nov. 1. Alberga will make a courtesy call to Gov. John P. DeJongh Jr. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Rotary International District 7020 is comprised of several islands under 11 different flags that include Anguilla, Bahamas (with the exception of Grand Bahama), the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Barthelemy, St. Maarten, St. Martin, Turks and Caicos, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The district governor was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He completed his post secondary education in architecture with honors in design from Thames Polytechnic in London, England.
A Rotarian since 1987 and a charter member of the Rotary Club of St. Andrew North, Alberga served as club president (1991-1992) with 18 years of perfect attendance. His advancement as a Rotary leader continued in 1997 as assistant district governor for Jamaica Northeast, with responsibility for Rotary Clubs of Downtown Kingston, St. Andrew North, Ocho Rios and Port Antonio.
He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Rotary Foundation benefactor, and a charter member of the District (7020) Paul Harris Society. District Governor Alberga has attended 20 district assemblies and conferences, and 17 Rotary International conventions.
An avid golfer, he is married to Leonie, who is also a Paul Harris Fellow. They have two children — Brian, a structural engineer, and Tracy, an architect. The Albergas also have two grandchildren, Christian and Zoë.
