Emelda Mercedes Jackson of Work and Rest died on Oct. 26, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. She was 75 years old.
She is survived by her sons: Gerard Jackson and Leo Jackson; daughters: Lucy Kamaria Jackson-Liddie and Monifa Bastian; son-in-law, Anthony Liddie; daughter-in-law: Malvina Jackson; grandsons: Nighel Jackson, Norlando Jackson, Rueben Omari Hardcastle, Charles Biko Hardcastle, Caleb Ishmael Payne, Andre Jackson, Kimari Jackson, Jelanie Jackson, Jakeel Jackson, Khaliem Bastian, Khalil Jones and Khannye Williams; and granddaughters: Norlisha Jackson-Lewis, Kye Walker, Idesha Hardcastle, Precious Hardcastle-Byron, Nini Claxton, Lateefah Jackson, Oni Jackson and Tashana Jackson. She is also survived by grandsons-in-law: Ray Anthony Lewis and Terence Byron; granddaughter-in-law: Sheera Jackson; great-grandchildren: Rae-Anthony Lewis, Damari Jackson, Jasmine Jackson and Leiani Byron; brothers: Harold Johnson, Raphael Johnson, Roland Johnson and Warren Johnson; stepbrother, Elroy Harrison; sister, Eunita Georges; sisters-in-law: Eleanor Johnson, Gwyneth Johnson and Eugenia Johnson; uncle, Christopher Simmonds; aunt, Dolorita Burke; godmother, Marie Begraff; close family friend and caregiver, Etta Todman; as well as other nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 9:30 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 5, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow at No. 280 Work and Rest, Christiansted.
