Workshops Offered on ‘Tibetan Medicine for the Western World’

In an introductory presentation and two days of workshops, “Tibetan Medicine for the Western World” will be presented by Dr. Barry Clark of Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Clark, born in England, is the only Westerner to have been trained in the Tibetan medical system. He spent more than 20 years in the Himalayas, including over seven years training with Dr. Yeshe Donden, the personal physician to His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama. Fluent in seven languages, including colloquial Hindi, he translated “The Quintessence Tantras of Tibetan Medicine” into English. He now lives in New Zealand and frequently teaches and presents workshops in Europe, North America, Southeast Asia and Australasia.

The schedule of events:
Introductory Presentation: 6-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, at Barefoot Buddha, across from Havensight Mall. Seating is limited; the suggested donation is $10.
Weekend Workshops: 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday Nov. 15, at Charlotte Kimelman Caner Center. There is a minimum donation of $35 each day. Reservations are required. The workshops will consist of eight hours of instruction over two days. Dr. Clark will also be available for a limited number of individual consultations on Monday, Nov. 16 through Wednesday, Nov. 18.
