0

Request for Proposal (RFP) workshops to help local nonprofits obtain up to $25,000 each for capacity building grants are scheduled for St. Thomas from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Department of Human Services, 1303 Knud Hansen Complex, 2nd Floor Video Conference Room; and on St. Croix from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the St. Croix Christian Church (old St. Croix Insurance Building) located at 3019 Orange Grove, behind Pueblo; and at Harbourview Hotel in the Community Room.

The RFP workshops will help prospective applicants better understand federal requirements and grant application criteria, according to Wayne Ramirez, the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) Grant monitor and evaluator. RFP packets are available at the V.I. Resource Center for the Disabled, Inc. (VIRCD) office located at 75 Kronprindsens Gade (behind the Old Red Cross Building) and will also be available at the workshops. Grant applications for sub-awards will be due by Feb. 3. In addition, VIRCD is seeking volunteers to be reviewers of the applications to determine awards. If interested, please contact Patricia Samuel at 777-2253, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
VIRCD will make available $250,000 for community-based and faith-based organizations to build their capacity for maximizing their social service work with low-income individuals and families. It recently received a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families to serve as a bridge between them and local nonprofits in providing training, technical assistance and funds to strengthen their organizations.
“January marks VIRCD’s 20th year of operation, and it is, therefore, a most fitting occasion to celebrate our anniversary and share the CCF award with our community,” said Shirley Joseph, executive director.
