Hebrew Congregation Honors Seven Students on M.L. King Jr. Day

The Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas will again observe Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday with a special service honoring seven high school students whose lives exemplify his teachings. The ceremony will be part of the Jan. 15th Erev Shabbat service, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to the service and to a reception at Lilienfeld House, across from the synagogue, after the service.
The seven students to be honored are:

Krythemer Edmead Charlotte Amalie High School
Hannah Marie Charles Sts. Peter and Paul School
Kai Bartlette V.I. Montessori School
Aleece Damara Evans All Saints School
Barndon Rhymer Ivanna Eudora Kean High
Semone Rey Seventh-day Adventist School
Noor Suid Antilles School

All seven were nominated for the award by their principals or guidance counselors. In addition to the recognition, each student will receive a $500 U.S. Savings Bond and a special book, "Shared Dreams, Martin Luther King and the Jewish Community.”

Gov. John P. deJongh Jr. will be this year’s guest speaker.
