Survey to Gauge Economic Impact of Territory's Marine Businesses

0

As part of its work with the U.S. Virgin Islands Marine Economic Development Council, the V.I. Charter Yacht League is conducting a confidential survey of marine businesses in an attempt to quantify the economic impact of the territory’s marine industry and provide guidance for its development.
The study, being done in conjunction with the Bureau of Economic Research, covers such questions as location, age of business, type of business, the number of jobs generated, salaries and gross revenues.
"It should take no more than 15 minutes," Charter Yacht League Director Erik K. Ackerson said of the survey.
The survey is the first of three, and Ackerson said the first done since 1991.
The Marine Economic Development Council was designated by the Legislature in October 2009. Ackerson said its membership comes from marine industry members and a few government officials.
"It’s a very small committee," he said.
The survey should be returned by Friday to [email protected] or to Ackerson at [email protected]. Ackerson said he’ll also pick up the surveys from marine businesses.
The survey can be downloaded electronically by going to http://www.usviber.org and on useful links.
