The Department of Public Works Commissioner Darryl A. Smalls has announced that a Notice to Proceed has been given to Virgin Islands Paving Inc. for a duration of 400 calendar days to work on two roadway segments: Route 32 Brookman Road and Route 310 Pollyberg Hill on St. Thomas.
The local contractor, Virgin Islands Paving Inc., began work on Brookman Road Route 32 on Wednesday, Jan. 20, and is beginning the project work by installing construction zone signage. Commissioner Smalls is advising the general public that the project will include the installation of culverts, inlets, a reconditioned roadway surface, guardrail installation, brush removal and pavement markings. Drainage will be improved and other aesthetic and safety enhancements will be developed and/or constructed.
Announcements will be made in advance regarding any temporary disruptions resulting from scheduled roadway improvement work. Flagmen will also be present to assist with traffic flow when needed. The department requests that motorists proceed through roadwork areas with caution. It apologizes for any inconvenience as efforts are made to improve the conditions of road infrastructure territory-wide.
