One hundred and four parents will take center stage at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, in Charlotte Amalie High School’s Ruth E. Thomas Auditorium as the inaugural graduates of the St. Thomas-St. John District Parent Universityprogram.

“I am extremely pleased by the results of the first round of classes of Parent University and very proud of our graduating parents! This first series was very successful and it was a thoroughly engaging experience as we were astounded by the numbers of persons who showed interest in this very vital program,” said District Superintendent Jeanette Smith-Barry. She said the program is aimed at providing parents a unique opportunity to learn more about how to help their children succeed in school and to offer support to parents and families that may be dealing with various challenges.
Registration for the second series of classes is currently underway and will be held at 6 p.m., on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning March 2 and ending on March 24, at the Lockhart Elementary School. All parents are eligible to participate in the program, but space is limited, so interested persons are urged to register quickly to secure a confirmed seat. Transportation, child care and refreshments will be provided each evening.
To register for Parent University, visit the Office of the St. Thomas-St. John District Superintendent located at the Curriculum Center in Tutu or the child’s school. An application can also be downloaded at www.doe.vi. For more information, call 775-2250.
