Territory's Cloudy Weather to Continue

Thursday’s cloudy weather will stick around for "the next couple of days," meteorologist Brian Seeley at the National Weather Service in San Juan said Thursday.
"There’s a moist, unstable air mass that’s sort of stagnated and is not going anywhere," he said.
The cloudy skies are not due to volcanic ash from the Soufriere Hills in Montserrat, Seeley said.
"Montserrat looks quiet," he said.
And media reports on the Internet indicate that the amount of ash from Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano has declined, but Thursday the remaining ash was heading toward Scandinavia. The ash poses no problems for the Virgin Islands.
Seeley expects the wind across the Virgin Islands to shift around from the south-southeast to the east during the overnight hours, but said that won’t make any difference in the conditions.
"It will be partly cloudy with isolated showers," he said.
He put the chance of rain at 40 percent for the next few days.
