An anonymous donation of $5,000 has increased the reward from $10,000 to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved in the shooting deaths of Lewayne Frazer and Victor Smith last fall in the Bakery Square area on St. Thomas.
Frazer and Smith, both 24 at the time of the shooting, were in the Back Street area at about 3:43 a.m. Oct. 31. According to a statement from the police department, Frazer, Smith and several others were traveling in a white vehicle on Back Street when one or more suspects opened fire on the vehicle, killing Frazer and Smith.
St. Thomas/St. John District Police Chief Rodney F. Querrard Sr. appealed to the public for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
“We need your help in solving this tragic double murder, he said. “The families are still grieving and are in need of closure. If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, please call us as soon as possible.”
Anyone who was in the area of Bakery Square that morning or knows anything about the crime can call Major Crime Bureau Detective Sgt. Lionel Bess at 715-5545, on his cell phone at 642-8449, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
All information will be held in the strictest confidence.
