CTEC Holds Men’s Fun Day on Father’s Day

0

The Father’s Day Walk and Fun Day is the outgrowth of the commitment of the St. Croix Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) and Pinnacle, a program of Lutheran Social Services, to partner with community-based organizations to provide opportunities for men and boys to share experiences of mutual benefit and enjoyment. As Father’s Day is not a big event in the lives of many fathers, CTEC is hoping to provide a wholesome and family-oriented event that fills that void and strengthens the bonds between fathers and their children.

The program is a 10-hour event for the whole family that begins at 7 a.m. on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20, with a one-mile walk from Hannah’s Rest to Fort Frederiksted Beach. There, participants will be treated to a program of music, games, table game tournaments and food. Drinks and other specialty items will be for sale. The organization plans to present the 300 registrants with a commemorative T-shirt and meal tickets for a free meal. The ability to provide gifts for fathers as well as T-shirts and door prizes to participants is in direct proportion to the contributions that are received. Twenty men and fathers will be honored with a Certificate of Appreciation and a small token of appreciation at the event.
