The 2010 Scotiabank International Optimist Regatta will take place June 17-20 out of the St. Thomas Yacht Club. Over 100 junior sailors (8 to 15-years-old) from throughout the Caribbean, U.S. and Europe are expected to attend. Pre-regatta activities will begin on Monday, June 14 and run through Wednesday, June 16, when top international coaches will teach the three-day instructional Sea Star Clinic.

The Sea Star Team Racing event is scheduled for June 17. Twelve teams registered last year and more are expected this year. Shore side activities include an opening Parade of Nations, a welcome party, raffle, ice cream social, a Bingo night and Caribbean-themed night that includes fire dancers.
Final registration for the regatta takes place June 17. The registration fee of $225 per sailor includes an event T-shirt, registration goodie bag and most meals. The fun culminates with a beachside brunch and an awards ceremony on June 20. Trophies will be awarded to the top five in each fleet and top three overall. Additional trophies include the Peter Ives’ Perpetual Trophy, the Chuck Fuller Sportsmanship Award and the top female sailor. The Sea Star Perpetual Trophy will be inscribed with the names of the sailors on the winning racing team.
