After a two-day trial, a St. Thomas jury on Tuesday found Curtis Subdhan, 26, guilty of three counts of possession of unlicensed firearms.
Subdhan, a native of Trinidad, was arrested on Nov. 30, 2008, after police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the home he shared with his girlfriend at the time. The girlfriend was a key witness.
According to evidence presented at the trial, Subdhan’s girlfriend led police to a cache of weapons hidden beneath the sofa in the couple’s home. The stash of weapons included a Saiga MK 03 assault rifle with an obliterated serial number, an assault rifle of unknown make and model (also with an obliterated serial number), and a.38 caliber “special” Taurus revolver.
Sentencing is set for July 16.
