The V.I. Department of Labor will host its next Employer Education Breakfast Seminar to provide an overview of the Hearing and Appeals Process, according to a press release from Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr. The informative sessions are held to inform employers, human resource professionals, attorneys, and the general public about the DOL’s many services.
June Austin, chief administrative law judge of the Hearings and Appeals Unit, will be presenting and will discuss the following topics: Scheduling of an Administrative Hearing, Preparing for an Appeal Hearing, How an Administrative Hearing is Conducted, Appealing a Wrongful Discharge Determination, Appealing an Unemployment Insurance Determination, Due Process Considerations, Appeal to the Commissioner of Labor and Appeal to the Court.
The sessions will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, on St. Croix, in the Gov. Juan Luis Hospital Conference Room. It will also be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, on St. Thomas, at Palms Court Harbourview Hotel. A continental breakfast will be provided.
