The Caribbean Genealogy Library Inc. (CGL) is offering a free Genealogy Workshop for Beginners at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, which will be held at the Caribbean Genealogy Library located at Al Cohen’s Plaza on Raphune Hill, across from Randy’s Restaurant and next to Mango Tango Art Gallery. The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning how to get started tracing and documenting family history. Participants need not be members of the CGL in order to attend.
Some of the topics to be covered include: charting your family, Virgin Islands Census Records, Virgin Islands Church Records, Internet resources (including Ancestry.com), and an overview of other family and cultural resources available at CGL.
CGL Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2000. Its mission is to identify, preserve and provide access to Caribbean genealogy, history and cultural heritage information resources, and to promote and encourage their use for family history documentation, education and scholarship. CGL is funded through its membership fees and tax-exempt contributions.
