Crime Stoppers reminds everyone that this is the time of year when burglars and robbers take advantage of us as we enjoy the festive season and the beauty of our home. Following are three recent examples of crimes that have occurred throughout the territory, where thugs have stolen cash, cars, cell phones, and other valuables.

St. Croix: On Nov. 20 at approximately 10:20 p.m. in Christiansted, two short males, one with dreadlocks, stole the handbags of two females. The robbers left the scene headed east in a black Honda with a rear spoiler, throwing the nonvaluable contents of the handbags out the window. The minimum reward for the arrest of a robber is $900.

St. John: On Oct. 25, a residence at 92 Chocolate Hole was locked and secured by its owners around 11 a.m. When they returned 40 minutes later, they discovered that a burglar had broken a window and stolen a black 32-inch Panasonic flat screen TV worth $1,200. This crime tells us that the criminals are watching us and our neighborhoods, so please watch out for criminals. The minimum reward for the arrest of a burglar is $714.

St. Thomas: On Nov. 12 at 4:16 a.m. in the area of Polyberg, while stopped at a red light, a man was robbed at gunpoint by two masked gunmen dressed in black with handkerchiefs over their faces. The armed robbers took his ring, threw him out of his vehicle, and drove off in it. The license plate is TDL-988.

It is up to us, the law-abiding citizens of the U.S. Virgin Islands, to help law enforcement identify these criminals and put them where they belong, behind bars. If you know something, say something by submitting a tip on these or any other crimes at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Your tips are completely anonymous, and the stateside operators are bilingual. If a tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property, illegal drugs, or weapons, the tipster receives a cash reward to be paid according to their instructions. Only anonymous callers to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.
