Saturated patrols this weekend by St. Thomas VIPD resulted in three arrests and confiscated drugs. Jabari Hodge, 20, and DeShawn Harrigan, 22 (both of Estate Frydenhoj) were arrested on drug charges; while Pierre Louis, 32, of Estate Anna’s Fancy was arrested for domestic violence.

According to a VIPD release issued Monday, the first arrest occurred at about 7:45 p.m. Friday when officers observed several men loitering in the Estate Frydenhoj ballpark. One of the men, later identified as Hodge, ran when he saw the officers. Officers chased Hodge and observed him throw away a backpack before he was apprehended. Inside the bag were four dime bags, four vials of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Hodge was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. Bail was set at $1,000.

Officers searched the other men and confiscated one vial of marijuana from Harrigan. He was charged with Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bail was set at $500.

On Sunday, just before midnight, Pierre Louis was charged with second-degree burglary for breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s Estate Anna’s Retreat home and assaulting her. Bail was denied due to the domestic charge.

All suspects were remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.

Officers conducting traffic enforcement near Fort Mylner on Saturday at about 11:30 p.m. stopped a vehicle and noticed that the driver’s firearms license expired in 2009. His weapon was confiscated and held by the VIPD firearms bureau upon review of his license conditions.

Police Commissioner Novelle E. Francis Jr. reminds licensed firearm owners they must adhere to the conditions set forth in their particular licenses or face penalties. All licenses must be updated before the expiration date.
