V.I. Fire Service Discontinues Burning Permits on St. Croix

0

The Virgin Islands Fire Service, St. Croix District, informs the general public that the issuance of burning permits is hereby discontinued in the St. Croix District. All previously issued burning permits are hereby revoked due to the extended dry weather conditions that we are currently experiencing. The burning ban will be in effect from Feb. 24 until further notice, according to a press release from Angel A. Torres Sr., acting fire chief, St. Croix District.
Individuals living in areas prone to brush fires are advised to cut back overgrowth vegetation up to a distance of 40 feet from around structures on their property.
