Derrick J. Thomas of Mary’s Fancy, Christiansted, died on Feb 28, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 48 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Nydia Thomas; daughter, Channel Thomas Benjamin; sons: Derrick Thomas Jr., Dean and Deon Thomas; adopted son,Manuel De Jesus; grandchildren: Kimani Thomas, D’Jamique and Denirah Thomas; mother, Katherine Martin; grandfather, Donald Vanterpool; mother-in-law, Ilma Felix Garcia; father-in-law, Raul Garcia Sr.; godfather, Chesley Roebuck; daughters-in-law: Shenequa Ringham and Inette St. Prix; son-in-law, Jermaine Benjamin; sisters: Claudia T. Graham and Cleantha D. Samuel; and brothers: Denfield, Dexter, Bruce and Jagon Thomas, Dennis Samuel, Devan Samuel, Bruce Kelly and Lionel Escobbar.
He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law: Joanna Parkin, Jeanette Gonzalez, Misty Garcia, Masako Thomas, Nicole Stewart, Myrna Garcia, Raul Garcia, Jr., Rafael Garcia, Larry Parkin, Carlos Gonzalez and Ovaldo N. Graham; six nieces; 11 nephews; seven aunts; eight uncles; special friends: Thelma Beard, Leslie "Frako Man," Kurt, Ramon Rios, The Motorcycle Club, NAPA, Reynaldo Bennett, Herman Ravariere, Brian Dusseau and Piedy Willams, Joseph Felle and family, the Felix family, the Henry, Creighton and Guthrie families, and the B.O.C. family; as well as numerous other relatives, cousins and friends too many to mention.
Persons attending the services are asked to wear festive colors.
There will be a viewing at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, at The Holy Ghost Deliverance Ministries Church, Barren Spot. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
