0
The V.I. Waste Management Authority advises the public that the authority’s hazardous household waste (HHW) sites will be closed to allow the staff to attend a week-long training on each island. The St. Thomas HHW site will be closed the week of March 7-11, and the St. Croix site will be closed March 14-18.
St. Thomas: located in Estate Bovoni, will be closed from March 7-11. Regular operating hours will resume the following week on Monday March 14.
St. Croix: located at the VIWMA’s office at William’s Delight, will be closed from March 14-18. Regular operating hours will resume the following week on Monday March 21.
Residents are requested to please refrain from bringing any electronic devices, fluorescent bulbs or all other types of HHW to the collection center during this time. These items will be refused.
The HHW collection centers were created to provide a safe drop-off location for household materials that are potentially hazardous and currently accept electronic devices and fluorescent bulbs and tubes from residents only.
Regular hours of operation at the HHW Collection Centers on St. Thomas and St. Croix are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For more information on the closure from March 7-11, or about VIWMA’s HHW programs, contact Lazarus Toussaint, St. Thomas and St. John special waste coordinator, at 775-5031 or Jennifer Russell, St. Croix special waste coordinator, at 712-4987.
