St. Thomas detectives arrested Vincent Thompson Jr., 22, of Water Bay Condos shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday. Thompson is the fourth suspect in the Nov. 20, 2010 murder of St. Thomas native Aquil Abdullah, who was shot to death in the parking lot near Club Jaguars.

Thompson was charged with first-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence and aiding and abetting.

Thompson, along with Shakieme Freeman, was previously arrested Jan. 27 for shooting at several individuals near the Bovoni Housing Community and eluding officers in a high-speed chase on Jan. 12.

Freeman was also arrested in connection with the murder of Abdullah, along with Lorn Vern Henly, who was arrested Nov. 20, and Jamoi Corraspe, who was arrested Dec. 24.

Acting Police Commissioner Raymond L. Hyndman praised the officers involved in investigating the case saying, “I commend them for their persistence in investigating this case and bringing the persons involved in this murder to face justice."

Thompson was unable to post the $500,000 bail and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
