The St. Thomas-St. John Library Association (STSJLA) will host the 6TH Annual Read on the Green Community Day” from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, as the kick-off to National Library Week. This event will be held on the UVI golf course grounds.
This year, the American Library Association (ALA) has set the theme for week as “Create Your Own Story @ Your Library." STSJLAwill offer early readers the opportunity to create their own little books. Young readers will help create the “Never Ending Story” and teenagers will “fracture” the fairy tale of their choice.
The St. Thomas Bookmobile will be at the event as well as representatives from other agencies. WAPA will provide information and demonstrations on energy conservation and electrical safety. FEMA will provide information and materials on disaster preparedness, and STSJLA will have a book give –away. In addition, the Afro-Antillean Dancers from the Lockhart Elementary School and the Ballroom Dancers from the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School will perform. Face painting and storytelling activities will be available throughout the day.
