The passport offices in both districts will open on Saturday, April 9, in recognition of Passport Day 2011. The offices, which are passport acceptance facilities operated by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, will join passport agencies across the United States in hosting passport events, according to a press release issued on Wednesday from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. On St. Croix, the Christiansted passport office located at Government House will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. On St. Thomas, the passport office located at Nisky Center will be open from 9 a.m. to noon.
“Passport Day is an opportunity for us to extend service to residents who are unable to visit our offices during regular working hours. I encourage residents to take advantage of this chance to prepare for summer travel by applying for or renewing their passport,” said Lt. Gov. Gregory Francis.
To apply for the traditional passport book or passport card, U.S. citizens will need a completed passport or passport renewal application (available at passport offices or online at www.ltg.gov.vi); proof of citizenship; proof of identity; two 2×2 photos and associated fees. Additional requirements apply for minor children.
For more information, contact the passport office on St. Croix at 773-6449 or in the St. Thomas-St. John district at 774-4024.
