Suspect Arrested in 2010 St. Thomas Murder

Jarial Dejesus, also known as “Preily,” a 24-year-old resident of Estate Anna’s Retreat, was arresed Saturday evening by detectives with the Major Crime Unit on St. Thomas on a warrant charging him with murder in the Nov. 10, 2010, death of Andy Roumou.

According to a news release from the V.I. Police Department, the warrant was by the Honorable Judge Adam Christian of the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands. Dejesus, who was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, possession of an unlicensed firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, reckless endangerment, accessory after the fact, aiding and abetting, misprison of a felony, and principal.

Roumou, 33, was shot to death in the parking lot of his apartment complex. Witnesses in the area told police they heard two shots around 9:30 p.m. He was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Medical Center for treatment and died from his wounds at about 8 a.m. the next day.

Bail for Dejesus was set at $250,000 by order of Judge Christian. Unable to post bail Dejesus was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending Advise of Rights Hearing on Monday.

St. Thomas/St. John District Police Chief Rodney F. Querrard Sr., joined by Police Commissioner Novelle E. Francis Jr. and Assistant Police Commissioner Raymond L. Hyndman, commended the detectives for their continued hard work and dedication.
