Education Asks Parents to Return Race, Ethnicity Survey

0
Parents of public school students are being asked to return the completed forms for the Race and Ethnic Survey. “All families with students attending public school are being asked to provide information on each student’s race and ethnicity for compliance with new guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Education regarding the collection of data on race and ethnicity for public school students,” according to a press release issued on April 11 by the V.I. Education Department’s Director of Planning, Research and Evaluation, Randolph Thomas. The form is to be returned to the school where the student is enrolled.
Besides personal information, in most cases, there are no more than two responses to the questionnaire. The information gathered from this survey will be added to or used to update students’ personal files at their respective schools.
For more information, contact Mr. Thomas at 774-0100, ext. 8081.
