Jamal Armstrong, a 19-year-old resident of the JFK housing community, was arrested and charged with homicide in a Saturday shooting that left one man dead.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives arrested Armstrong, also known as “Trigger” or “Trigger Man,” after the shooting in Estate La Grande Princess took the life of 20-year-old Kyle Greenidge of Estate Work and Rest.
Detectives detained Armstrong as a person of interest at about 4:30 p.m. and arrested him minutes before 8 p.m. Saturday. He was charged with first-degree murder, held on a $1 million dollar bail and remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending his advise of rights hearing.
Police were alerted to the shooting just after 10 a.m. Saturday. The 911 Emergency Communications Center received calls requesting an ambulance for a gunshot victim. Police and EMT’s arrived on the scene and the victim was taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital to receive medical attention, but the victim died at the hospital.
The preliminary police investigation indicated that shots were fired from a vehicle driving by the area where the victim was. Greenidge was struck at least once.
St. Croix Police Chief Christopher Howell congratulated the officers for the quick arrest.
“While I am disappointed that another young man has lost his life to violence, I am humbled and extremely grateful for the excellent police officers I work alongside," Howell said. "The fact that this case was solved and an arrest was made within hours is evidence that the VIPD is home to some of the best in law enforcement. The officers will continue to work this investigation to assure that a solid case is brought to trial and justice is served."
It was the 11th homicide in the territory in 2011.

How dare you claim to be a “source”. You have already tried and convicted this young man without any evidence/ I am disgusted by the lack of quality in your reporting. You have “scraped” other inaccurate news sources such as the St Croix Avis; this is lazy and irresponsible.
Had you truly investigated this, you would have found that Mr. Armstrong, who is not 19 and does not live at JFK, was in fact in the company of his aunt at the time the shooting occurred.
I tell you, there are consequences to this sloppy reporting, the least of which is slander.

Intstead of critisizing a man’s job, how about you direct your attention to the amazing parenting skills Mr. Armstrong’s parents/guardians have. You should be blogging about topics like: Dear St. Croix Parents, “when are you going to stop letting your children run around uneducated, wild with no basic home training skills? Also, when will the community stop glamorizing the “shotta” mentality and start enforcing right from wrong?” It’s YOUR IGNORANCE AND COMPLACENCY towards the bigger picture that your kids follow. Therefore, lead by example and stop letting the community destroy itself. Stop defending CRIMINALS just because you’re buddies with them, and start putting your foot in their a$$ and demanding MAXIMUM punishment for their senseless crimes. Second of all Mr.Greenidge is not a angel he was arrested on dec.2010 for drugs possession to burglary which was him and others suspects charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm attemped burglary and vehicle tampering. Breezy, it’s amazing how you are currently playing judge/jury. The facts are a youngman is dead and another is fighting for his life. Both families are grieving and it’s distasteful of you trying to blame parents for not teaching their kids what is right from wrong. Why hasn’t the government of the VI create programs that will assist these kids in becoming something of themselves other than living the street life. This war between the street life and life in general has been going on for years. The police need to start doing their job correctly and stop being paid to look the other way and pin this crime to the first name they hear.
