Superintendent of the St. Thomas-St. John District, Jeannette Smith-Barry has announced that 24 second and third grade students representing parochial, private and public schools across the district will compete in the 23rd annual St. Thomas-St. John District Primary Spelling Bee. The event will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School Auditorium.
April Munroe-Phillips, the district primary coordinator, said, “This annual event provides positive learning experiences and opportunities for the students to expand their vocabulary and improve their spelling while preparing for future academic excellence. It also serves as a stepping stone for future participation in the District Intermediate Spelling Bee. Family and friends are invited to come and support the bee participants.”
The 2011 St. Thomas-St. John District Primary Spelling Bee is organized by the St. Thomas-St. John Office of the Insular Superintendent, U.S.V.I. Department of Education.
