The Office of Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis will host a transportation summit in conjunction with the Federal Transportation Administration, the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, the Administration of Children and Families, the National Resource Center/ Community Transportation Association of America and other local government departments and agencies.
Bearing in mind that each district has distinct issues, the St. Croix summit will be held on May 17-18, at the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center located at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center. The St. Thomas event will be held on May 19-20, at the University of the Virgin Islands Administration and Conference Center, according to a press release from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
Lt. Gov. Francis stated, “We will review the challenges related to transportation for organizations and agencies that provide health care and social services and identify ways to increase access to affordable and reliable transportation services for residents, particularly for people with disabilities, senior citizens and people with limited income.”
Questions concerning the transportation summit should be directed to Sonia Boyce, chief policy advisor, at 773-6449, ext. 3405.
