Lieutenant Governor’s Office Encourages Property Owners to Pay Delinquent Taxes

0

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor advises the public that it will begin publishing lists of Virgin Islands properties that have been delinquent in property tax payments. Publication of the delinquent lists is mandated by VIC T33 §2496, which requires the lieutenant governor to publish the names of all delinquent real property tax owners, according to a press release issued on Friday by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
The delinquent real property lists will be published in local newspapers and on the lieutenant governor’s Web site, www.ltg.gov.vi. Property owners whose names appear on this list or who know that their properties are in delinquent status are encouraged to contact the Office of the Tax Collector in their district to make arrangements for payment. Pursuant to Virgin Islands law, “unless such delinquent taxes and public sewer system fees are paid within a period of 30 days from the publication date of the said notice, the property of the tax payers will be attached and sold in the manner provided in this subtitle.”
For more information, contact the Office of the Tax Collector at 776-8505 on St. Thomas, 776-6737 on St. John, 773-1105 in Christiansted or 772-0120 in Frederiksted.
