Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr. congratulates the selection of 32 interns territory-wide who were selected for the department’s Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) summer internship program. The program, now in its twenty-second year, continues to provide college students with meaningful work/internship experience in their chosen career fields.
This internship program, which is different from the department’s year-round youth employment program, is geared towards students who are currently enrolled as a college junior, senior or a graduate student; have a minimum GPA of 2.80 on a 4.00 scale; and are between the ages of 18 – 25. A 250-word essay is also a requirement that weighs heavily in the applicant’s favor to be selected for the program. Those chosen are paired with jobs they are interested in, according to a press release from the V.I. Department of Labor.
Those selected from St. Thomas are Annathar Alexander, Sade Barlette, Tinika Christopher, Amanda Francis, Sakeeda Freeman, Amad Martin, John McDonald, Angeli Mohanani, Aziree Pemberton, Cameron Phillip, Jenelle Penha, Latisha Ramsey, Herminus Reid, Corelle Rogers , Mpho Sello and Regina Watson.
