V.I. Education Commissioner LaVerne Terry offers condolences to the family and friends of Aubrey Roebuck, one of the department’s former assistant commissioners and a staunch supporter of its Career and Technical Education program, upon his recent passing.
Mr. Roebuck began his more than 30 year career in education as an industrial arts teacher at the Charlotte Amalie High School and eventually moved into the position of director of the department’s Vocational and Technical Education program. Terry noted that in this capacity Roebuck was a strong advocate for developing and helping to keep the program in line with federal standards, and was instrumental in helping several teachers to attain degrees and advanced degrees.
Mr. Roebuck retired after becoming the department’s assistant education commissioner in the late 1980s.
“Mr. Roebuck was a great teacher, administrator and one of our pioneers in the field of vocational and technical education, and on behalf the department, I offer condolences to his family,” Terry said. “He will be greatly missed.”
