Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are investigating a burglary that occurred Monday shortly after 4 a.m. at a private residence in Estate Campo Rico, Frederiksted.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the burglary while in progress, and when they arrived, the suspect fled and ran through a back door, apparently leaving some unusual items. Officers chased the suspect on foot; however, he evaded capture and police are still seeking information.

While investigating the break-in, officers found a pink bicycle, a pair of slippers, and a black backpack containing a screwdriver and needle nose-pliers. According to the family, none of the items belong to them and nothing was stolen. Police think the items were abandoned by the suspect when he fled.

The investigation determined the suspect must have gained entry through an open window on the west side of the home. Another window on the east side of the home was taken out and left on the ground.

Anyone knowing anything regarding this burglary is asked to contact detectives at 340-712-6077, 340-712-6037; or you can call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
