CGL Presents the Importance of Danish West Indies Probate and Tax Records

0

Caribbean Genealogy Library will host a presentation by local historian David Knight entitled “Death and Taxes; the Importance of Danish West Indies Probate and Tax Records to Genealogical Researchers” at 2 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 12, at Randy’s Restaurant at Al Cohen’s Plaza on Raphune Hill. Knight has done extensive research in the Danish archives and will provide insight into why these records are important and how to best make use of them. The Danish West Indies probate and tax records are quite
complete and are a tremendous resource for researchers to learn more about their family histories. Probate records can be especially helpful in identifying members of one’s family tree.
The Caribbean Genealogy Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2000. CGL’s mission is to identify, preserve and provide access to Caribbean genealogy, history and cultural heritage information resources and to promote and encourage their use for family history documentation, education and scholarship. CGL is funded through its membership fees and tax-exempt contributions.
