Applications for land preparation services will be temporarily suspended until Feb. 27, 2012, according to a press release issued Friday by the V.I. Department of Agriculture.
The temporary suspension is due to the numerous applications received, and also the inclement weather over the past several months, which prohibited appropriate land preparation for farmers.
“While the rains were appreciated bymanyfarmers, on the other hand, it hindered some in land preparation and other production practices. We are now playing catch-up,” Agriculture Commissioner Louis E. Petersen said.
The suspension is effective immediately and VIDOA will resume accepting applications on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.
