Pistarckle Holds Auditions for “Red”

0

Pistarckle Theaters will hold auditions for John Logan’s “Red” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, for the roles of Mark Rothko (mid 50s, stocky, robust, balding) and Ken (mid 20s, eager, earnest, impressionable).
The play is the story of abstract impressionistic artist Mark Rothko during the time he was commissioned to create work for the Four Seasons Restaurant. At the time it was the highest paid commission for a living artist, the equivalent of over two million dollars today.
It is a compelling and moving piece that explores his relationship to his art and his young assistant at a time when the art world was enamored with the new Pop movement of artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Jasper Johns.
Actors should bring a prepared two-minute monologue showing their range.
For information, contact Pistarckle Theater at 775-7877 or Frank Bartolucci at 715-2101.
